When you’re juggling a busy life and making sure your home is both stunning and practical for your family, choosing the right flooring is essential. When it comes to choosing the right floors, it’s easy to get lost in a sea of technical terms. But actually it’s as simple as whether the floor is right for your family’s lifestyle or not. We’ve written this blog post to break down the technical elements of LVT for you, so you can see which floor is right for you, without any stress.
Why bother with the specifications?
Understanding the spec of LVT flooring ensures that not only does it look beautiful, it will also stand through the everyday busy family life that goes on in your home. At Luvanto, we’re all about flooring lasting a lifetime. So it’s important that the floor you choose has the right technical properties to last forever and still look as good as the day you bought it. Let’s face it, once you bring little feet and muddy paws into the mix – your flooring has to perform pretty well to stand the test of time.
Key Specifications you Should Consider
1.Wear Layer Thickness
Measured in mils (thousandths of an inch) or millimeters, this protects your floor from scuffs and scratches. The thicker the wear layer, the better and more durable. Our floors are all scratch resistant, so you’re free to let the kids run riot, let cats and dogs loose, and dance in the kitchen in your heels if you feel like it – and your floor will still look the same.
2. Overall Thickness
When we say overall thickness, we mean all of the components – the wear layer, design layer, and the backing layer. As tempting as it is to only be concerned with the pretty part (the design layer), we would recommend considering the overall thickness of the tile. If this is thicker, it will feel super comfy underfoot and insulate against noise.
3.Water resistance (or in Luvanto’s case – it’s waterproof!)
Our 100% waterproof floors are ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where spills are inevitable.
Look for 100% waterproof LVT to keep your floors looking fabulous, no matter what!
4.Slip resistance
Especially important for families with young children or elderly members.
And one to look for if you are prone to clumsiness when you’re busy and running around the house getting chores done.
5.Underlayment
Underlay under your LVT can provide extra comfort, cosiness, and sound insulation. Added bonus: it can also hide subfloor imperfections if your floor is less than perfect underneath.
